Mesa de Cata La CAV 2025: Carmen Delanz Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 ranks as the best Super Premium wine in Chile

The publication also recognized Ana María Cumsille, highlighting her as one of the most influential women in Chilean wine over the past two decades.

Viña Carmen received significant recognition at the Mesa de Cata La CAV 2025, one of the most influential guides to Chilean wine, during an awards ceremony held at Viña Santa Rita, where the most prominent winners of this edition were announced.

In this context, the winery’s highest honor went to Carmen Delanz Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, from Alto Jahuel, which earned 97 points and was named the best Super Premium wine in Chile. Crafted by winemaker Ana María Cumsille, this wine is a unique expression of Alto Jahuel, capturing the distinctive character of this exceptional terroir and reflecting the identity of the winery in every bottle.

Within the Carmen Legacy range, which represents the ultimate expression of each grape variety and Chile’s finest terroirs, the newly released Delanz Chardonnay 2024, from the Limarí Valley, scored 96 points, while Delanz Carmenère 2023, from Apalta, received 95 points, reaffirming the exceptional quality of this wine collection.

Carmen Gold, the icon wine of the winery, shone with the 2021 and 2022 vintages, both awarded 96 points. Meanwhile, the Carmen DO range earned notable accolades: Loma Seca 2023 and Matorral Chileno 2023 scored 95 points, while the new sparkling wine from Chiloé Island, Carmen DO Punta Chilen, along with Florillon #6 and Quijada 2021, achieved 93 points.

In the Carmen Gran Reserva range, the Cabernet Sauvignon 2022, Merlot 2023, Carignan 2023, Sauvignon Blanc 2024, and Chardonnay 2024 each received 92 points, while the Pinot Noir 2023, Syrah 2022, and Gran Reserva Frida Kahlo Carmenère 2022 earned 91 points.

Beyond these awards, the publication highlighted Cumsille with the following words: “Ana María Cumsille took over as winemaker at Viña Carmen last year, showcasing her relevance and maturity (…) She is one of the most important women in Chilean wine over the past 20 years.”
